Questions & Answers

What is hypnosis?

Everybody experiences hypnosis on a regular basis.

For example, it occurs just before you fall asleep and just as you awaken, or when you become so absorbed in activities such as reading a good book,  watching a an intriguing film or television program, or having a really good conversation with someone and as a consequence you lose track of time. In effect hypnosis is a natural state of mind and everybody can be hypnotised if they choose to be.

Opinions vary on the exact definition of this natural state of mind.

Contrary to what many people believe, hypnosis is not always a trance state or a sleep state even though a person in hypnosis may appear to be sleeping.

Previouslives believe that the most appropriate definition of hypnosis is simply ‘a state of mind open to suggestion’.  When our mind is open to suggestion we are capable of achieving desired changes in behaviour as well as improving mental and physical well-being.

Is hypnosis dangerous?

The answer is no.

Hypnosis is a phenomenon that was utilised by the Ancient Egyptians in their ‘Sleep Temples’. It has been recognised, approved and used by members of the British Medical Association and the American Medical Association since the 1950’s.

Hypnotherapy is a well-established branch of complementary medicine, recognised by the medical profession for the treatment of emotional and psychological disorders and is acknowledged as being 100% safe.

Will I lose control?

Do we give up control of our mind to someone else when we are reading a book or watching a film?

In circumstances like this you are in a hypnotic trance, although you still have the ability to emerge from that state if wished. Whatever or whomever hypnotises you; you always have the capacity to resist. A Past Life Regression practitioner is a guide and helps you on a journey, but the change can only be made by you.

Realising that you are in control and that you can make change yourself is very empowering. You will find that the more often you go into hypnosis and are aware that you doing it, the more you realise how easy it is to let go, secure in the knowledge that you can always stop a session if you feel uncomfortable.

ed by the medical profession for the treatment of emotional and psychological disorders and is acknowledged as being 100% safe.

Is it possible to become stuck in hypnosis?

No. Hypnosis is a perfectly natural state that we experience often without realising it.

Nobody has ever become ‘stuck’ in hypnosis. If anything happened to the Past Life Regression practitioner you would simply emerge from hypnosis feeling absolutely fine.

Can I get stuck in a past life?

No, it is not possible to get stuck in a past life any more than it is possible to remember your childhood and get stuck in that.
What you will experience is often very vivid and will seem very real, as if you are experiencing it in the moment – yet you are still sitting in a therapy chair in this time and place.

As such, be prepared for some strong feelings and possibly physical reactions. Something akin to watching a powerful engrossing movie but notched up a bit – as if you are a character in the movie rather than someone watching. These are all part of your story.
Your rational ego self will be present throughout the entire session as a witness. At any point in time you chose, you can open your eyes and you will be in your current life sitting in a chair.

Will I remember everything that went on?

Yes, although there may be some occasions that you don’t recall all the details in the same way that you may not remember certain aspects of a film you watched, a football match that you have been to see, a dream that you may have experienced or a meeting that you have attended.

What does it feel like to be hypnotised?

Because hypnosis is a natural state of mind people are often surprised that they hear every word and could get up and walk out of the room at any moment. Unless you enter a deeper state, you may not seem any different, just very relaxed.

It’s similar to drifting off to sleep at night, that stage when you are not quite awake and not quite asleep, you may feel a sense of weightlessness or you may feel heaviness as all your muscles relax. Everyone experiences it differently, and your Past Life Regression practitioner will be able to reassure you and help you relax and enjoy the experience. Most people are surprised at just how relaxing it is and frequently comment that they have never felt so relaxed before.

What will my experience of Past Life Regression be like?

Client’s experiences of Past Life Regression vary greatly. Some clients see their past life vividly, in great detail. Others find they ‘see’ things in their mind’s eye quite clearly, whilst some clients may find the impressions somewhat vague, only portions coming in clearly.

Information expresses itself in a variety of ways such as physical sensations (like feeling hot or cold), hearing what people are saying around you, just knowing something intuitively all of a sudden. The best avenue of approach is simply to trust whatever comes up at the time and focus on the images and feelings you experience. Do not concern yourself unduly as to whether it makes sense or is ‘real’ or not. All you have to do is report what you’re experiencing. By adopting this approach you will get far more from the session.

What am I likely to encounter in these past lives?

Some clients discover lives that they have shared with people that they have a close bond with in their current life. Others are drawn to certain places or countries that they immediately feel comfortable and familiar with.

Whatever the outcome each life explored is a journey and an adventure for yourself and your practitioner.

What if the experience is too much for me?

The subconscious mind primary objective is to protect you from harm, so it is highly unlikely you will experience something you cannot handle. However, it is possible that you may encounter an unpleasant or challenging experience; and an event may ‘seem’ like more than you ‘think’ you can handle.

Your subconscious knows you can handle more than you think you can. So even when it feels difficult, know that you are in fact okay because the lifetime you are re-living is actually a thing of the past, not the present and re-living the feelings and challenges in the past life offers tremendous benefit in your current life and your future lives.

Whenever possible, we would encourage anyone faced with challenges in their past life to re-live it and see it through. Again, this is a dynamic process and we are continually checking in with you to insure that you are okay and that the experience serves your highest good. If you tell us it is too much, we can guide you to rise above the experience and watch it as though it is happening to someone else.

With all of that said, you can open your eyes at any time and be done with the past life regression because you are always in complete control of the experience.

What is the biggest problem that can interfere with a past life regression?

If you allow your conscious analytical mind to re-enter a session while you are in the midst of a past life regression, it will limit the flow of past life information, and may curtail the information coming in the session altogether.

As the rational conscious mind closes the door on past life information, it is best to just report any and all information that comes up. Once you start judging, analysing, processing, or just trying to make sense of the past life information, you terminate the process.
Remember that you have a lifetime to come back to the information, analyse it and make sense of it. You don’t need to do it during the session. The trick is to suspend your rational mind and just narrate and report the information as it comes. Don’t worry about whether it makes sense or is ‘real’ or not, and trust whatever comes up at the time. Being open and allowing your mind, body and spirit to work together is the key.

How should I prepare for the session?

The choice is yours.

Do Past Lives Actually Exist?

Client sometimes asks if the events that emerged during the session actually happened to them in a past life. Our response to this is as follows:

  • Perhaps these are genuine past-life memories of lives you’ve lived.
  • Alternatively they maybe waking dreams (fabricated by your Unconscious Mind) that require expression in order to enable you to resolve the issues you’re facing.
  • Possibly you have connected with someone else’s story from (according to Carl Jung) the Collective Unconscious. This story may mirror where you are currently stuck in your present life and has been expressed to assist you resolve your own issues.
  • Or, it may just be purely a figment of your imagination.
